BombBomb automatically adds an "unsubscribe" button to the bottom of your emails if you send to more than one person. We do this to protect you under CASL and anti-spam laws, which require you to provide your recipients an option to opt out of your email communication.
But you might also want to add your own "unsubscribe" button to your email for individual sends or to make the button better fit in with the flow of your email content.
Watch the video to learn how to add your own "unsubscribe" button or keep reading below!
Here are the step-by-step instructions.
Add an "unsubscribe" button
Step 1: Head to the Emails tab in your BombBomb account and either click "Edit" next to an existing email or "New Email." If you choose "New Email," you'll choose the "Advanced Composer" option. For this example, we'll edit an existing email.
Step 2: Once in your email composer, click on the "Layout" tab on the left side. Click and drag the "Button" element where you'd like it to be located. When you drag the button over your email, sections that will allow the button to be added will turn teal.
Step 3: Click the "Button Text" field to change the text to "unsubscribe." In this panel, you can also format the button's style and color if desired.
Step 4: On the left side of the screen in the button settings, you'll see a "URL" field. In this section, copy and paste this text: %opto_url%
Step 5: Close your button settings by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner of the left panel, and save your email.
Once you send your email, your unsubscribe button will become an active unsubscribe link. When a person clicks on the button, they will either be added to your suppression list or will have the option to unsubscribe from receiving that specific email series.
Add an "unsubscribe" link to text
You can also add an unsubscribe variable to text if you'd prefer.
Step 1: Highlight the "unsubscribe" text in the body of your email and click the hyperlink icon in the editing bar.
Step 2: You'll see "Link Settings" appear on the left side of your screen. In the URL field, copy and paste this text: %opto_url%
Step 3: Once you're finished, click the "Save Link" button and save your email. When you send your email, the text you've hyperlinked will become an active unsubscribe link.

It would also be helpful to have the steps typed as text as well as in the video. Thanks J.R.
