Recording, sending and Editing a video in the iOS app

Want to connect with someone but only have a few minutes? No problem. Our mobile app makes it easy for you to build relationships while you’re out and about.

In just a few simple steps, you can record and send a video straight from our mobile app through email, text, or social media sites, such as LinkedIn or Facebook. Taking the time to send a personal video — wherever you are — does wonders to humanize your communication and build a closer connection.

Here are step-by-step instructions:

Step 1: Open up the BombBomb mobile app. At the bottom right, you can flip to the front-facing camera. To begin recording a video, tap the “Record” button at the bottom middle of your screen.

Quick Tip: Videos look best in landscape orientation, so rotate your camera before you hit that record button!   

Step 2: Once you begin recording, you will see a timer in the upper right corner of your screen. In the bottom left of your screen, you can pause your video. You can also use the icon in the lower right to flip your camera. And to stop recording, hit the big red stop button in the middle of your screen.

Step 3: Once you’ve finished recording, you can do a few things while your video is uploading. In the upper left, you can re-record your video. In the middle of your screen, you can tap the video thumbnail to play it back. From here, you can also cancel your upload. At the bottom right, you can pause your upload.

Step 4: Once your video is uploaded, you can edit your video or share your video with your recipients. In the upper right, you can click “Edit” to retitle your video, edit your thumbnail, or add a call-to-action banner.

Quick Tip: If you select a thumbnail, this will replace the animated 3-second gif. This is a great option when sending videos through apps that only send links rather than gifs. Otherwise, we suggest sticking with the eye-catching animated gif! (Also, once you add a thumbnail, it cannot be removed in the mobile app.)  

Step 5: If you want to add a call-to-action banner, toggle on “Add a Call-to-Action Banner.” Then type the text you’d like to appear on the banner and paste the link you’d like the banner to direct to. When you’re done, click “Save Edits.”

Note: To add a CTA or edit a CTA to an existing video, choose the video from your Video Library and click "Edit Video."

Step 6: You can choose to share your video via text, email, or other platforms via “Share,” or you can email with a BombBomb template. At the bottom, you can delete your video from your Video Library. 

Simple Sharing:

Text: Uses your phone’s native text messaging app to text a video to your recipient. Add a quick note to encourage them to watch your video!

Email: Uses your emailing apps to share a video with your recipient. Click “Next” once you’ve selected your email provider, which will copy the video link to your clipboard. When your email message opens, simply long press in the email and tap to paste the link to your video.

Share: You will use your phone’s native share screen to show your phone apps where you can share a video, such as social media sites like LinkedIn or Facebook. 

Email with BombBomb Template: Sends an email out of BombBomb using a template of your choice. (This feature isn’t available for BombBomb Essentials users.)
