Ever wish you could streamline your workflow and send your BombBomb videos right from your Chrome browser? Or, even easier, your Gmail account? Well, we wished the same thing for you...and we created a tool that took this wish and blew it out of the water.
Behold: the BombBomb Chrome extension. Our Chrome extension lets you record and send videos right from your Chrome browser or Gmail account so you don't need to keep logging in and out of your BombBomb account. With easy integration and live tracking, there's no better way to go than the BombBomb Chrome extension if you use Gmail with Chrome.
Here are just some of the things you can do with the BombBomb Chrome extension:
- Access your BombBomb videos and send them straight from Gmail
- Create canned responses to avoid re-creating the same messages
- Set reminders to follow up with people who haven't opened your email by certain days/times
- Schedule emails to be sent at a later date/time
- Include a "reply with video" function so your recipient, as long as they have a camera, can reply to your video with their own
- Track every open, click, and play for each email sent and receive real-time desktop notifications
If you have Chrome and you have Gmail, YOU NEED THIS. Plain and simple.
Check out the video above for an awesome walkthrough of the BombBomb Chrome extension, Gmail integration, and PowerWheel feature!
*Please note that when using the BombBomb app integration, any bounce notifications (like invalid email addresses) are sent to your Gmail account and thereby will NOT automatically suppress contacts in your BombBomb contact list. As a result, we do not recommend using this integration for drip responses where email validity rates are low (such as website sign-up forms).
If you'd prefer to read, here's a step by step:
The BombBomb Chrome extension allows you record, send, and track videos right from Gmail account. To start, you need to download the extension. Go to Google and type in "Chrome Web Store." Select the Chrome Web Store Extensions link in the results. In the search bar on the left, type in "bombbomb" (with two B's in the middle). When you see the BombBomb extension come up, click the "Add to Chrome" button to the right of the extension and then the "Add Extension" button on the pop-up.
Once the extension has been installed, refresh your Gmail page or log into Gmail. You'll be prompted to log in using your BombBomb credentials - the same login information used to log into your BombBomb account. Then, click the "Activate" button to activate the BombBomb Chrome extension in your Gmail account.
You'll notice that your Gmail interface looks slightly different. You will now see a BombBomb dropdown on the upper left of your screen, the tracking bar to the right of your screen, and the actual BombBomb extension connected to your Chrome browser to the right of the search bar. If you click the BombBomb extension, the recorder will display and allows you to send a video, very similar to the Quick Send function, right from your Chrome browser. This video will automatically use the Quick Send template you've designated in your BombBomb account and can be recorded on any webpage.
To send a regular email, you can click the "Compose" button on the left of your screen. To send a video email, which automatically pulls up the video recorder, click the "Send Video" button on the left of your screen. To start or stop a recording, click the red button in the middle of the recorder. Once you're finished recording, you have the option to re-record the video, play back the video, or snap a thumbnail image for your video.
When you're satisfied with your video, click the "Save" button on the bottom right. The video will then encode and populate the body of your new email.
With your BombBomb Chrome extension, you get the BombBomb PowerWheel. The PowerWheel is an icon in your emails that has a wheel of options you can use. These options allow you to customize different features of your email.
One of the options of the PowerWheel is to track statistics for the specific email you're creating. Hover over the PowerWheel and click the "Tracking" option. This turns on the tracking for the email you're about to send. If the icon is a lighter gray color, the tracking is turned off while if the icon is a darker gray color, the tracking is turned on.
You can record another video in your email by clicking on the red button in the middle of the PowerWheel, but you can also insert an existing video in the email that is already in your video library from your BombBomb account. Hover over the PowerWheel and click the "Videos" icon.
This will bring up the videos you have in your video library in BombBomb. You can sort these videos and choose from different labels you've created by clicking on the dropdown next to the folder icon at the top. Click on the video you'd like to include in your email and then select the "Insert Video" button. This will encode and insert the existing video right into your email.
You can also create a snippet, or a canned response, with the text and information you put in a new email so you can use it at a later time. To do this, highlight everything (including the video) in your email. When you do this, you'll see a pink "Save" icon display at the bottom right of your email with the option to "Save as Snippet." Click this icon.
This will bring up your snippet in an editing window. Here, you can edit the snippet title, subject line, email body text, etc. When you're finished, click the "Save" button at the bottom. When you're ready to use the snippet later, open a new email, hover over the PowerWheel, and click the "Snippets" icon.
When you're ready to use the snippet, open a new email, hover over the PowerWheel, and click the "Snippets" icon. You'll see a window with all of the snippets you've saved. Move to the right of the snippet you'd like to use and click the plus sign. This will load the snippet right into your email! You can use this as many times as you want in the future.
The PowerWheel can remind you when a recipient of your email has not yet opened your email by a certain day/time. This is perfect for following up with recipients. To set a reminder, hover over the PowerWheel and click the "Remind" icon.
You can then pick predetermined timeframes by which you'd like to be reminded if your recipient has not opened your email. Just click one of the options available and your reminder is set. If you'd like, you can click the "Custom" button to designate a specific day/time of when you'd like to be reminded. If you create a custom timeframe, be sure to click the "Save" button at the bottom to set your reminder.
If your Gmail address matches the email address you use for your BombBomb account and you've connected the Gmail integration, you can schedule emails to send at a later time. Hover over the PowerWheel and click the "Schedule" icon.
Choose the day and time you'd like your email to send. Once you've indicated a day/time, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the screen. Once you do this, you'll see the "Send" button at the bottom left of your email change to say "Schedule," and now your email will be scheduled at the day/time you identified once you click this button.
The PowerWheel also has a "Reply With Video" option that you can use as long as there is a video in your email. This allows your recipient to reply to your video email with their own video -- even if they don't have a BombBomb account! All they need is a camera. Just click the "Reply With Video" option to turn it on for your recipient. Similar to the tracking feature, if the icon is a lighter gray color, this feature is turned off while if the icon is a darker gray color, this feature is turned on.
When you send an email, the email details display in the tracking bar on the right side of your screen in its own tracking section. You can collapse or re-open the tracking bar by clicking the double arrows to the right of the "Tracking" text. Each email tracking section shows you the last time your email was opened, the video in your email was played, or a link in your email was clicked. If none of these actions have been done, they will be grayed out in this section. You can also follow up with the recipient of the email by clicking the "Video" icon to send them a video, or by clicking the "Email" icon to send them a regular email.
The BombBomb Chrome extension also allows for real-time notifications when your emails are opened and your videos are played. When your email is opened, you'll see an orange notification appear at the bottom right of your screen. When your video within an email is played, you'll see a green notification appear at the bottom right of your screen.
You can turn these notifications on or off at your leisure in the Options section. To do this, you can either click the BombBomb dropdown in the upper left of your account and click "Options." You can also click the BombBomb extension icon next to your search bar and then click "Options," as shown here.
Here in the Options section, you can turn any of your notifications on or off. You can also connect or disconnect your Gmail integration, which is what allows you to schedule emails. You can even customize the look of your Gmail account, such as turning on and off various displays shown from the BombBomb extension. If you operate multiple Gmail accounts out of the BombBomb extension, you will see several of these Options sections that look the exact same. From here, you can control any of your settings for any of your Gmail accounts that use the BombBomb Chrome extension.
