If you've been with BombBomb for a while or have had time to surf through our support site, you may have noticed that we throw around the terms "Gmail integration" and "Chrome extension" quite a bit. These are two different features offered by BombBomb that allow for a more synchronized workflow with the platforms that you may use, but the two are sometimes mistaken for being the same thing, or interchangeable. So what's the difference between the Gmail integration and the Chrome extension? We're here to settle this once and for all!
The BombBomb Gmail integration is a connection between BombBomb and Gmail that works when sending emails. In short, it brings the best parts of Gmail into BombBomb. So, when you connect the Gmail integration with your BombBomb account, BombBomb actually uses Gmail servers to send your emails.
Why is this a thing? Well, Gmail servers are more familiar to your computer and settings, making it a better platform for email sending instead of introducing another one (BombBomb servers) into the mix. Since you'll be sending from a familiar server, it improves your deliverability status and your emails are less likely to end up in anyone's junk mail. You just need to ensure that the email address you use for BombBomb is the same one as your Gmail address so the two accounts can associate when connecting.
Also, the Gmail integration works in conjunction with the Chrome extension and can allow you to schedule emails. These emails can be sent out at a later date and time of your choosing, and they will also have tracking capabilities. You'll be able to see who has opened your emails in real-time.
The BombBomb Chrome extension is similar to the Gmail integration, but vice versa. It brings the best parts of BombBomb right into your Chrome browser and Gmail account. With the Chrome extension, you get tracking capabilities on all emails that are sent from your Gmail account, as well as something called the BombBomb PowerWheel.
With the Chrome extension, you can record videos right from your Chrome browser - without having to log into BombBomb. You'll also be able to track any of the emails that you send from your Gmail account and receive real-time notifications letting you know when your emails are opened, videos are played, and links are clicked. You'll be able to see all tracking activity in a collapsible tracking bar that will be displayed in your Gmail inbox.
The BombBomb PowerWheel brings BombBomb capabilities to your Gmail account. You'll be able to access your video library and send pre-recorded videos, create snippets, set reminders that will notify you if someone has not opened your email within a certain timeframe, schedule an email, add a "reply with video" option for your recipients with webcams, and turn on/off tracking for individual emails. Both the Gmail integration and Chrome extension are awesome BombBomb features to have. And now, you'll be able to understand which one, if not both, is better for you to be more successful with BombBomb!
