Overview
The BombBomb mobile app for Android lets you record, send, and track videos directly from your phone — no desktop required. Whether you're following up after a meeting or responding to a lead on the go, the app gives you full access to your video library, insights, and sharing options from anywhere.
Who this applies to: All users
Plan requirement: Core, Core + Copilot, Enterprise
Known Limitations
- Videos record best in landscape orientation. Portrait recording is supported but not recommended.
- Selecting a custom thumbnail replaces the animated GIF preview. If recipients will see your video as a link rather than a GIF, a custom thumbnail is a good choice — otherwise, the animated GIF is more engaging.
Recording a Video
- Your home screen is the fastest place to record. Tap the record icon to begin.

- You'll get a 3-second countdown before recording starts.
While recording, you can:
- Pause using the pause icon on the bottom left.
- Flip between front and rear cameras using the camera icon on the bottom right (landscape orientation only).
- Monitor your recording length using the timer on the bottom right.
- Stop recording by tapping the square in the center.
Once you stop, your video will encode and upload automatically. When you see "Saved to Video Library" in the blue banner at the bottom of the screen, your video has saved successfully.
Editing Your Video
After recording, tap Edit above the video to access editing options:

- Rename the video — Update the title using the edit button to the right of the default video title.
- Add to a Folder — Organize the video in your library by assigning it to a folder.
- Add a Call-to-Action Banner — Tap the edit button and toggle on the CTA option to add a banner title and link. This displays a clickable banner on your video's player page.
- Select a Thumbnail — Watch your video playback and tap to set a frame as the thumbnail. Note that selecting a custom thumbnail replaces the animated GIF preview.
- Download or Delete — Access these options from the bottom corners of the edit screen.
You can also tap Re-Record in the top left immediately after stopping — this option is only available while your video is still uploading.
Sharing a Video
After recording or selecting a video from your library, you have three ways to share it:
Text Tap Text to open your phone's native messaging app. Select your recipient, write a quick message, and send. Depending on your device and the recipient's system, either a link or an animated GIF preview will appear in the message.
Email Tap Email to select your email provider. If you want to use the same provider every time, tap Save as Default. After selecting your provider, the video link is copied to your clipboard. Your email app will open — long-press in the message body and tap Paste to insert the link.
Share Tap Share to open your phone's native share sheet. From there, you can send the video through any compatible app on your device, including LinkedIn, Facebook, or any other platform that accepts links. The video will appear as a link or animated preview depending on the app.
Your Workspace
Tap the Workspace icon at the bottom center of the screen to access your Workspace. From here you can:
- Search for a video using the search field at the top.
- Filter by label using the All Videos dropdown.
- Tap any video to go to its share screen and send it.
- Upload a video from your device by tapping the blue arrow icon in the top right.
To delete a video: Tap the video to select it (you can select multiple), then tap the trash icon in the blue banner at the bottom of the screen. Confirm when prompted. Tap Cancel at the top right to exit without deleting.
Tracking Video Insights
Tap the Insights icon at the bottom right of the screen to see recent activity across your sent videos, including opens, plays, clicks, likes, and comments. Use this to identify who has engaged with your videos so you know when and who to follow up with.
You can also access tracking for individual videos from your library. Tap the Workspace icon, select a video, and scroll below the video preview to see engagement data. Tap See More to expand the full tracking history for that video, including who played it and how much they watched.
Managing Settings and Notifications
Tap the gear icon at the bottom left of the screen to access Settings. From here you can manage:
- Account — View your username, connected email address, and subscription level.
- Notifications — Choose which types of notifications you receive from BombBomb.
- Keyboard App — Enable the BombBomb keyboard for use across other apps on your device.
- Do Not Disturb — Review instructions for silencing calls and notifications during recordings.
- Email Settings — Set your default email provider for sharing videos via email.
-
Advanced Settings — Configure the following:
- Save Videos to Device — When enabled, videos are saved locally during recording. Recommended if you're in areas with unreliable connectivity.
- Offline Mode — Enable this when you're out of service range. Videos will save to your device and upload automatically when connectivity is restored.
- Default Text Message — Set a default message that appears whenever you share a video via text. You can edit this on a per-send basis.
You can also check for app updates using the bell icon in the top right of the Settings screen, send feedback to BombBomb, or log out from this menu.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I record in portrait orientation? Yes, but landscape produces a better viewing experience in most email and messaging contexts. Rotate your phone before recording for best results.
What's the difference between sharing via Text, Email, and Share? Text opens your native messaging app. Email copies your video link and opens your chosen email provider. Share opens your phone's share sheet so you can send through any app on your device that accepts links.
Should I use a custom thumbnail or leave the animated GIF? The animated GIF is more attention-grabbing in most cases. Use a custom thumbnail when sending through apps or platforms that display links only — in those cases, the GIF won't animate anyway.
Will my videos be lost if I delete the app? No. Your videos and account data are stored on BombBomb's servers. Reinstalling the app will not affect your library. You'll just need to log back in.
How do I know if my video saved successfully? Look for "Saved to Video Library" in the blue banner at the bottom of the screen after recording stops.
What does Offline Mode do? Offline Mode saves your recordings to your device when you don't have a connection. Once you're back in range and reconnect, the app uploads your videos automatically.
