Overview
The BombBomb mobile app lets you record, send, and track videos from your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. This article walks you through installing the app and signing in so you're ready to send your first video.
Who this applies to: All users
Plan requirement: Core, Core + Copilot, Enterprise
Requirements
- iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later
- Android phone or tablet running Android 7.0 or later
- A BombBomb account
To check your version on iPhone, go to Settings → General → About. On Android, go to Settings → About phone.
Install on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Search for BombBomb.
- Tap Get next to the BombBomb app from BombBomb, Inc.
- When the download finishes, tap Open.
Install on Android Phone or Tablet
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for BombBomb.
- Tap Install next to the BombBomb app from BombBomb, LLC.
- When the download finishes, tap Open.
The welcome screen shows what the app does. Swipe through it, or go straight to signing in.
-
Tap Log in.
-
On iPhone and iPad, iOS asks: "BombBomb" Wants to Use "bombbomb.com" to Sign In. Tap Continue. This is how iOS opens a secure sign-in page and is expected.
-
Sign in the way you do on the BombBomb website: with your email and password, with Google, or with your company's single sign-on (SSO).
- When you're signed in, the app opens on the Record tab.
Forgot your password? Use the forgot-password link on the sign-in page. The reset email goes to your BombBomb account email address.
Because the app uses your phone's browser to sign in, you may find you're already signed in to Google or your SSO provider, which makes signing in a single tap.
New to BombBomb?
Tap Sign up on the welcome screen. BombBomb.com opens in your browser, where you create your account and choose a plan. When you're done, come back to the app and tap Log in.
Subscriptions are purchased and managed on BombBomb.com, not in the app.
Allow camera, microphone, and notifications
The app asks for each permission the first time you need it, not all at once when you open it.
-
Camera and microphone: the first time you open the Record tab, tap Continue and allow both. You need them to record.
- Notifications: after you send your first video, the app explains what notifications do. Tap Turn on notifications, then Allow, to hear when someone watches.
- Contacts (optional): the first time you use Quick Send, the app can suggest recipients from your phone's contacts.
- Photos (iPhone): the first time the app saves a recording to your Photos. Turn off Save Videos to Device in Advanced Settings if you don't want copies saved.
If you declined a permission, the button changes to Open Settings, which takes you straight to BombBomb's page in your phone's settings so you can turn it on.
Updating from an earlier version
If you already had BombBomb installed, update it from the App Store or Google Play as usual.
- You may need to sign in again the first time you open the updated app.
- Your videos, tags, and account are unchanged. They're stored in your BombBomb account, not on your phone.
- Folders are now called Tags.
If your phone runs a version older than iOS 16.4 or Android 7.0, the update won't be offered. Update your phone's software first.
Recommended next step on iPhone: turn on the BombBomb keyboard
The BombBomb keyboard lets you send any of your videos from inside Messages, Mail, LinkedIn, and other apps without switching over to BombBomb. It needs a one-time setup: in the app, go to Settings → Keyboard App and follow the steps. See How to Use the BombBomb iOS App for details.
