How to Complete Your Assignments

Overview

If you're a team member in Automated Workflows, Assignments are your video to-do list. Each Assignment tells you what video to record and what to say. Your job is to record a personalized video using the provided script and example. If you haven't recorded yet, a fallback video pre-recorded by your Admin will play in your place until you do.

Who this applies to: Team Members who receive Assignments from Admins

Plan requirement: Core + Copilot, Enterprise

What Is an Assignment?

An Assignment is a specific video task your Admin has created for you as part of a Campaign. Each Assignment includes:

  • Suggested script — what to say when you record
  • Example video — a recording from a top performer showing you what great looks like
  • Fallback video — a pre-recorded backup your Admin uploaded that plays until you record your own

There's no deadline. The fallback video plays for the contact from the moment the Assignment goes live. Once you record your own video, it replaces the fallback immediately.

How to Access Your Assignments

  1. Go to Automated Workflows in the left navigation.
  2. Click the Assignments tab.
  3. You'll see a list of all your active Assignments, organized by Campaign.

How to Complete an Assignment

Step 1: Open the Assignment

Click on the Assignment you want to complete to open the Assignment detail view.

Step 2: Review What's Provided

Before you record, take a moment to review:

  • Suggested Script — this guides your message. You don't need to read it word-for-word, but stay close to the core content.
  • Example Video — watch this to understand the tone, pacing, and delivery your Admin is looking for.
  • Fallback Video — this is what the contact is currently seeing. Your goal is to replace it with something more personal.

Step 3: Record Your Video

  1. Click Record Video.
  2. Follow the script and use the example as your guide.
  3. Review your recording.
  4. When you're happy with it, click Submit.

Step 4: What Happens After You Submit

What happens next depends on whether your Admin has Video Review enabled for this Campaign:

  • If Video Review is not enabled: Your video goes live immediately, replacing the fallback. The Assignment is marked complete.
  • If Video Review is enabled: Your video enters a review queue. The Assignment status changes to In Review. Your Admin will either approve or reject it.
    • Approved: Your video goes live and the Assignment is marked complete.
    • Rejected: You'll need to re-record. The Assignment returns to you with feedback from your Admin.

How Assignments Work Without a CRM Integration

If your organization doesn't use a CRM integration with BombBomb, your Admin creates Assignments manually for each contact. Assignments don't appear on a set schedule — your Admin adds them one by one as needed. Check your Assignments tab regularly so you don't miss anything new.

How Assignments Work With a CRM Integration

If your organization uses a CRM integration with BombBomb (such as Outreach, Dynamics 365, Total Expert, or HubSpot), Assignments may appear in your dashboard automatically when your CRM sequence hits a video step.

Note: The specifics of how CRM-triggered Assignments work depend on your organization's integration setup. Check with your Admin if you're unsure how Assignments are being created for your team.

Tips for Recording Great Assignments

Don't overthink it. The script and example are there to make this easy. Follow the guidance and hit record.

Watch the example video first. If you're stuck, the example shows you exactly what your Admin is looking for.

Record in one take. Your contact cares more about getting a personal message from you than about a flawless delivery. Good enough and sent beats perfect and delayed.

Record sooner rather than later. The fallback is already playing for your contact. The sooner you record your own video, the sooner they get a personalized message from you specifically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I say the script in my own words? Yes — you don't need to read it verbatim. But stay close to the core message. The script exists to keep everyone on the team delivering a consistent message.

What if the script doesn't feel right? Talk to your Admin. There may be a good reason for the wording, or it may be worth updating. Don't skip the script entirely without checking first.

What if my video gets rejected? Your Admin will provide feedback explaining why. Review their notes, re-record, and resubmit.

Do I get notified when a new Assignment appears? This depends on your notification settings. Go to Settings → Profile → Notifications to make sure Assignment notifications are enabled, or check with your Admin.

Can I have multiple Assignments at once? Yes. You can have Assignments from multiple Campaigns active at the same time. Check with your Admin on how to prioritize if you have several open at once.

Can I upload a pre-recorded video instead of recording in BombBomb? Check with your Admin. Assignments are designed for recording directly in BombBomb, but your Admin can advise on whether uploading an existing video is acceptable.
