Overview
As an Admin, you can upload virtual background images for your team to use while recording. You can manage backgrounds at the account level or for specific teams, and control whether users and team admins can upload their own.

How to Upload a Virtual Background
- Go to Workspace in the left navigation.
- Click the Virtual Backgrounds tab.
- Select the team you want to upload a background for from the left panel. To make a background available to the entire account, select your account name at the top of the list.
- Click + Add Image in the top-right corner.
- Drag and drop your image into the upload area, or click to browse your files.
- The background will appear in the team's Virtual Backgrounds library and will be available to team members when they record.
Managing User Upload Permissions
At the top of the Virtual Backgrounds page, you'll see two permission toggles:
- Allow users to upload their own Virtual Backgrounds — when enabled, any user can upload their own background images from within the recorder.
- Allow team admins to upload team Virtual Backgrounds — when enabled, team admins can upload backgrounds for their specific teams without needing account Admin access.
Toggle these on or off based on how much control you want to give your team. Changes take effect immediately.
FAQs
Can I upload backgrounds for specific teams only?
Yes — select the team from the left panel before uploading. Backgrounds uploaded to a specific team are only available to members of that team. Backgrounds uploaded at the account level are available to everyone.
What image formats are supported?
Png, jpg and jpeg are supported. All files have a maximum supported size of 20MB.
A user says they can't see the backgrounds I uploaded. What should I check?
Make sure you uploaded the background to the correct team — or to the account level if you want it available to everyone. Also confirm the user is a member of that team.
Can I delete a virtual background?
Yes — hover over the background image in the Virtual Backgrounds tab of your Workspace and click the delete icon.
